Leonardo holds a PhD in Business & Management from University of Manchester (2016), an MSc in Business & Management from Coppead Graduate School of Business, UFRJ (2004) and a BSc in Production Engineering from POLI, UFRJ (2000) with Cum Laude honour.
Leonardo has over 17 years of professional experience in purchasing and supply management that includes managerial positions, consultancy and executive training, in fashion retail, consumer goods, oil & gas, technology and media.
Between 2005 and 2014 he has collaborated with Coppead as a part-time lecturer; and since 2015, as an Assistant Professor teaching at BSc, MSc, MBA and PhD levels topics such as Operations Management, Global Supply Chain Management and Project Management. Leonardo is the academic tutor of Projeto Compartilhando (social responsibility initiative) and Director at Alumni Coppead for the 2017-2018 term.
In March 2018, Leonardo has been elected for the Executive Committee of IPSERA. His research interests include sustainability, collaboration and culture in supply networks, particularly applying social network analysis. Recent publication outlets include Production Planning & Control, the Supply Chain Management: An International Journal and the Journal of Supply Chain Management, where his paper with colleagues has received the honorary mention to the Harold E. Fearon Best Conceptual Paper in 2016.
Leonardo is currently the coordinator of a research project sponsored by Instituto e on social-environmental impact of sustainable fashion innovation in Brazil.
