Kai Foerstl has been involved with IPSERA since 2009 as part of the organizing committee of the 18th IPSERA Conference in Wiesbaden. He has joined the IPSERA executive board in March 2014. Currently he is Chair of Supply Chain Management & Logistics at the German Graduate School of Management and Law (GGS), Heilbronn, Germany. Over the last years Kai has been involved in industrial research projects in the pharmaceutical, automotive and logistics services industry.
Kai teaches Procurement and Supply Chain Management at Bachelor-and Master-Level and has taught in international MBA programs, doctoral programs as well as corporate training programs and supply chain academies of leading industrial companies.
In his responsibility of bursaries & awards on the IPSERA executive committee he enjoys working with early career scholars and supporting them in their research and teaching endeavors.
His primary areas of research and teaching include global sourcing decision making, supply network structures, reshoring & insourcing and sustainable supply chain management. He has published his work, among others, in the Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management, the International Journal of Operations and Production Management, the Journals of Supply Chain Management, the Journal of Business Logistics, the International Journal of Production Research, the Journal of Business Ethics, Supply Chain Management Review and other managerial outlets. He serves on various review boards of the above mentioned journals and is an associate editor at JPSM. He received the Harold E. Fearon Best Paper Award 2010 and the Best Reviewer Award 2015 of the Journal of Supply Chain Management and is a distinguished member of the IPSERA conference’s scientific committee for various years.
